Let's Pray for Peace

Tuesday, Aug 15, 2017

We have all been extremely saddened by the events this past weekend in Charlottesville, VA. It is difficult to understand how there can still be those who hold onto blatant white supremacist ideologies. I’m asking the MB family to continue to pray for our brothers and sisters who have been hurt physically and/or emotionally by the actions and words of those who hold onto ungodly concepts that are based on hatred, disrespect and delusion. Instead, let’s all work to repeal racism in our communities and in our churches. Let’s work hard to bring peace where there is chaos. USMB is directly addressing this issue with upcoming LEAD One events focusing on racial reconciliation. Pastor Terry Hunt and others will help us as we seek to learn more about how we can repeal racism: Oct. 10 in Edmond, OK; Oct. 12 in Hillsboro, KS; Dec. 5 in Bakersfield, CA and Dec 7 in Fresno, CA. Learn more about these one-day events at www.usmb.org. Come and be a part of sharing and learning together how we can, with God’s direction, help eradicate the scourge of racism in our midst!

Don, thanks for taking the LEAD with this article and the upcoming events. I just read a Christianity Today article about lynching which called for memorials and repentance. I hope US MBs can provide further leadership in concrete moves to promote racial reconciliation. Thanks for this step, Don!
