Lighthouse Church is targeting an area with few churches on the west side of Denver, Colo.
Church planters Josh and Brianne Shaw are giving leadership.
Don Morris, director of Mission USA, says that only about 7% of the Denver population attends church on Sunday, choosing instead to “worship” outdoor activities.
“Lighthouse is an appropriate name: brightness in the midst of darkness, where people headed for destruction can come to know the one true light, Jesus,” says Morris.
Lighthouse Church is supported by the Southern District Conference (SDC), Mission USA, the USMB church planting arm, and Mountain View Community Church (MVCC), Fresno, Calif. In addition, a few Denver churches that are a part of the Acts 29 church planting network provide leadership support.
The Shaws were interns at MVCC, and MVCC is taking on the role of the church plant’s “mother church” even though the churches are hundreds of miles apart.
The official launch of Lighthouse Church was Sunday, October 25, 2015. Watch this short video to see what God is doing in Denver, Colo.
